What’s the difference between WebShuttle and a regular browser?

WebShuttle has a full-featured browser, which is even easier to use than many ordinary browsers, and can fully satisfy your daily browsing needs. In addition, it has a built-in VPN and a secure proxy: your browsing data is transmitted through an encrypted secure tunnel, so you can browse privately without being eavesdropped on or hijacked.

Compared with an ordinary browser, WebShuttle also offers:

  • System-level VPN: one tap to encrypt all network traffic on your device (including other apps) and hide your real IP address.
  • Secure proxy (tunnel mode): encrypts and forwards only your browser traffic — lightweight and battery-friendly, with no impact on other apps.
  • Ad blocking, tracker protection, video download and more.

Why do we need an encrypted tunnel?

While browsing, your data (the sites you visit, forms you submit, account passwords, etc.) may be stolen or tampered with if it is transmitted in plain text. This is especially risky when you use public Wi-Fi, visit insecure websites, or are on a network where monitoring is possible. An encrypted tunnel helps you:

  1. Encrypt your requests before transmission, so they cannot be read even if intercepted;
  2. Prevent your ISP or a malicious hotspot from tampering with or hijacking your web requests;
  3. Hide your real IP address so websites and third parties cannot track you, enabling anonymous access.

What are the application scenarios of tunnel mode?

  1. I want to access some web services anonymously and don’t want to expose the real IP address.

  2. My network environment is potentially risky and I want to keep my data safe. For example, when you use wifi in public places to access the Internet, you may be at risk of network hijacking, theft of personal information and data tampering.

  3. I would like to access some network resources abroad, but these network resources are only available to users in the local area. At this point we can choose the appropriate node to break the restriction.

  4. When I access some network resources I find the speed very slow; by selecting some nodes there may be a network acceleration effect.

What’s the difference between VPN mode and Proxy mode?

WebShuttle offers two working modes, and it works in VPN mode by default.

VPN mode (system-level)

  • Encrypts and forwards traffic through the system VPN channel, protecting not only the browser but also network requests from other apps on your device;
  • Suited to scenarios that need all-round protection, especially when using multiple apps on public networks;
  • Requires VPN permission from the system, and uses slightly more power.

Proxy mode / tunnel mode (application-level)

  • Encrypts and forwards only the browser’s requests, with no impact on other apps;
  • Lighter and more battery-friendly — ideal if you only want to protect your browser traffic.

Both modes hide your real IP and encrypt your traffic, and you can switch between them freely in the settings. Note that WebShuttle’s VPN is used only to protect your privacy and does not record your browsing history or traffic content.

Tip: WebShuttle offers free VPN traffic — you can earn more by watching rewarded videos.

I have successfully connected to the tunnel but cannot browse the internet

  1. Some tunnel nodes may be temporarily unstable, please try to switch to another tunnel node manually.
  2. Try disconnecting the VPN and reconnecting, or restarting the browser.

I purchased a VIP package, can I still get my VIP package back if I uninstall and reinstall the software?

WebShuttle reads your VIP purchases through your GooglePlay account, so as long as your GooglePlay-bound account stays the same, your VIP won’t disappear. It can also be used on multiple devices.
